Ivan Sjögren captured a stunning image of a short-eared owl in the Fraser River delta, British Columbia, which earned gold in the Birds in Flight category at the Bird Photographer of the Year 2026 award. Meanwhile, a new sea cucumber, affectionately named Barbie Pig, was discovered by the Natural History Museum in London, located 5km deep within the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, with footage recorded by a robot; a documentary titled How Deep Is Your Love is set to premiere next month. In Alaska's Katmai National Park, Fat Bear Week 2026 kicks off its 13th edition. Additionally, a family of black bears was spotted swimming in a pool in Los Angeles, and a wasp spider was identified in Cheshire, marking its first sighting in northern England.
