Rene Matić Wins Deutsche Börse Photography Prize, Debuts Sculpture at V&A East

Rene Matić, the youngest nominee in the history of the Turner Prize, has received the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize for their work 'As Opposed to The Truth'. This project offers a complex depiction of life in London, examining how contemporary politics influence identities and bodies. Recently, Matić introduced a sculpture named 'Heard' at the inaugural exhibition 'The Music Is Black' at V&A East, curated by Jacqueline Springer. In a recent interview, Matić mentioned their interests, which include reading 'I Don’t Think About Being Great: Selected Writings by Robert Rauschenberg', watching 'Master of None Presents: Moments in Love', and preparing dishes from Denai Moore's 'Plentiful: Vegan Jamaican Recipes to Repeat'. They also shared a still from 'Meeting the Man: James Baldwin in Paris' as a keepsake.
