Warsaw Uprising Mound wins 2026 AR Public Award

The 2026 AR Public Awards from The Architectural Review have been awarded to the Warsaw Uprising Mound in Warsaw, Poland, a project by Archigrest and Toposcape. This site, constructed from rubble left over from World War II, has been converted into a public park and memorial that emphasizes both ecological restoration and historical significance. The development features pathways, observation decks, and leisure spaces, while maintaining over two-thirds of the area as a minimally altered landscape with indigenous flora. Walls and drainage systems utilized reclaimed materials, showcasing remnants of the devastated city. Jury members Rafiq Azam, Judith Lösing, and Mario Súñer Díaz commended its integration of memory, landscape, and community life. Atelier Wo-Land and the Natural History Museum garden in London received two notable mentions.
