Vollodymyr Voznyy Wins 2026 CENTER Environmental Award for 'Horizons'
Vollodymyr Voznyy was awarded the Environmental Award at the 2026 CENTER Awards for his photography project, Horizons, which delves into the oil-extraction landscape in Boryslav, Ukraine. Juror Dominique Hildebrand commended the project for its striking visuals that highlight the deep ties between the local community and their environment. Voznyy, based in Lviv and affiliated with the National Union of Photo Artists of Ukraine, used 6×7 medium format film for the series, inspired by his trips to Boryslav and Ukrainian literature. Once thriving in oil production, Boryslav now faces significant environmental issues, like water shortages and oil pollution. The award includes participation in Review Santa Fe, a feature in LENSCRATCH, and a place in the CENTER Winners Gallery & Archive.
