Vicenza's Parco della Pace among finalists for European Prize for Urban Public Space

The Parco della Pace, a 65-hectare ecological park located in Vicenza, Italy, has been selected as a finalist for the 13th European Prize for Urban Public Space. This prestigious award, organized by the CCCB, attracted 381 submissions from 38 nations. The announcement of the winner will take place on October 15 in Barcelona. The park, designed by Martí Franch Batllori EMF and collaborators, involved the excavation of over 240,000 cubic meters of soil to establish canals, lakes, and wetlands, which function as a flood retention basin. It includes 12.5 hectares of forest and 62,000 aquatic plants, along with repurposed structures for cultural events. Other contenders are Zuidpark in Antwerp, Plaça de les Glòries in Barcelona, Leça Green Corridor in Portugal, and a temporary installation in Logroño. An international jury highlighted climate resilience and biodiversity in their selection of finalists.
