UniSQ Biennial Art Award: $24,000 Prize Pool and Acquisitive Awards

The Biennial Art Award has been introduced by the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), featuring a total prize pool of $24,000. Launched in 2024, the inaugural event received 645 submissions from more than 300 artists. The main award of $20,000 and the $3,000 Emerging Artist Award are both acquisitive, allowing the winning pieces to be added to the university's permanent collection. Gabrielle Jones from the Sunshine Coast won the main prize for her artwork Disordered Dream, while Susie Choi from Sydney received the Emerging Artist Award for Dinkum. Additionally, there is a $1,000 People's Choice Award. The deadline for entries is 20 July, finalists will be announced by 3 August, and the exhibition will take place from 1 September to 2 October at UniSQ Art Gallery in Toowoomba. Open to all Australian artists working in 2D and 3D media, the entry fee is $40 for up to five works.
