Thai Artist Chantana Tiprachart Receives Han Nefkens Foundation's 2026 Southeast Asian Video Art Grant

Chantana Tiprachart, a Thai artist and filmmaker, has been awarded the Han Nefkens Foundation's 2026 Southeast Asian Video Art Production Grant, which provides five emerging video artists with annual grants of USD 15,000. Born in Kalasin, Thailand, in 1991 and currently residing in Bangkok, Tiprachart focuses on marginalized identities in her cinematic creations. Her notable projects include 'The Artificial II' (2025), 'SOO-KWAN2022' (2022), and 'Lhai Thorn' (2020). The jury commended her artistic growth and her ability to maintain stillness amidst chaos. Tiprachart described the grant as 'vital oxygen' for her creative freedom. She will utilize the USD 15,000 to create a new piece over nine months, set to be showcased in 2027–28 at venues like MUSEION and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
