Tekla Aslanishvili Receives 2026 Han Nefkens Foundation Moving Image Commission

Artist Tekla Aslanishvili has been selected for the 2026 Han Nefkens Foundation – Eurasia Moving Image Co-Commission. The award provides $120,000 for the production of a screen-based video artwork over 18 months. The commission is organized by the Han Nefkens Foundation in partnership with M HKA Antwerp, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, Art Sonje Center in Seoul, and The New Taipei City Art Museum. Aslanishvili was chosen for her proposal involving collaborative research across Eurasia, examining cinematic language and internationalist visions. The jury praised the project's intellectual rigor and contemporary relevance. This marks her second award from the foundation, following a 2020 video art production grant. The resulting work will be exhibited at all partner institutions, which will each receive an edition for their collections.
