Stefano Bernardi and Samira Mosca Win 2026 Piero Siena Prize

The third edition of the Piero Siena Prize, promoted by the Italian Culture Department of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, has been awarded to Stefano Bernardi and Samira Mosca. The prize is organized in collaboration with Museion in Bolzano and Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea in Turin, aiming to support contemporary artistic research through acquisitions for public collections. The announcement was made at the Centro Trevi in Bolzano, with a concurrent exhibition running until August 5. The jury, composed of Francesco Manacorda, Federica Lamedica, Bart van der Heide, Frida Carazzato, and Denis Isaia, selected the winners from around one hundred artists supported by the province over the past 25 years. Bernardi, a sound artist from Bolzano (born 1970), won the Castello di Rivoli Prize with works 'Mélissa 4' and 'Mélissa' (2022), which transform bee vibrations from hives near Meltina into a participatory sound installation. Mosca (born 1995, Bolzano) won the Museion Prize with works exploring the body through photography, ceramics, and performance, including 'Interspace, Capitolo III' (2024) and 'Feeding the Interspace' (2026). A special mention was given to Rina Riva (1922-2010), a key figure in Italian printmaking. The exhibition, curated by Federica Lamedica, highlights invisible processes across generations. In autumn, the artists will also be presented at Castello di Rivoli.
