Rupert Allen Wins Best in Show at 41st AOP Student Photography Awards

The 41st annual Student Awards of the Association of Photographers (AOP) have revealed their winners, showcasing entries from 21 photography programs across the UK. The competition featured categories such as People, Places, and Things, awarding Gold and Silver medals along with an overall Best in Show. Rupert Allen, a BA student from the University of Gloucestershire, earned the Best in Show title for his series Church of Coal, which highlights coal miners in South Wales. He also secured Gold in the People category. Anthony Porter from Edinburgh College received Silver in People. In the Places category, Gold went to Lorena Balujance Jimenez from City of Glasgow College, while Gemma McNaughton from Edinburgh College won Silver. For Things, Ed Butty from the University of Leeds took Gold, and Silver was awarded to Megan Dickson from Norwich University of the Arts. Allen's achievements include a Fujifilm prize kit valued at £2,500.
