Rising Talent Awards 2026 Honors South African Design

The Rising Talent Awards 2026, organized by Maison&Objet, celebrate South African design by selecting seven designers from Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. The winners include a designer transforming crochet into large-scale light sculptures, a visual artist and ceramist, a furniture designer blending contemporary languages with African craft, a studio balancing functionality and experimentation, a project reinterpreting African traditions with a modern aesthetic, a furniture designer championing manual fabrication and imperfection, and a ceramic and lighting artist. The awards mark a strategic collaboration between Maison&Objet and Decorex, a key platform for contemporary African design. Selected projects will be exhibited in the Design District of Maison&Objet, a space for discovering emerging creative voices. The initiative aims to highlight designers building new perspectives for the global industry, showing that innovation often arises from the intersection of tradition and contemporaneity. The 89th edition of Glocal Design Magazine, titled "Visionarias del espacio," features 15 female architects and interior designers expanding the conversation on architecture, design, and interiorism in Mexico, with covers by Prince Láuder and Jimena Estíbaliz.
