Raquel Gu and Clara Grima Win COSMOS Prize for Comics and Math Book

Illustrator Raquel Gu and mathematician Clara Grima have been awarded the 2026 COSMOS Dissemination Prize in Spain for their book 'Algoritmos y a lo loco'. The book merges comics and mathematics to explain algorithms in an accessible, creative way. Their collaboration began after a Twitter interaction and a meeting in Barcelona, leading to a friendship and joint projects. They previously co-authored 'En busca del grafo perdido' (Ariel, 2021). Gu, with a background in English philology and translation, translates mathematical concepts into images, while Grima, a mathematician, provides the scientific content. Grima also co-discovered the geometric shape 'scutoide' (published in Nature).
