Pininfarina and Trimo Win Red Dot Award for Qbiss Notch Façade System

Qbiss Notch, a modular façade system developed by Pininfarina for Trimo, has won the Red Dot Design Award. The system is based on Trimo's Qbiss prefabricated metal panels with mineral wool insulation and introduces vertically installed panels, engraved Glyphs, and Notch lighting elements. Inspired by the vertical rhythm of birch forests, the design integrates pattern, light, and modularity directly into the façade. The Red Dot jury recognized its combination of architectural expression, usability, and prefabricated construction. The system includes an Alphabet of Glyphs that can be mirrored, rotated, or repositioned, and aluminum Notch elements with integrated LED lighting. Dedicated design tools support adaptation across different project scales. The award signals a shift in façade design from purely technical envelopes to identity-defining elements.
