NYFA and NYSCA Award $903,000 to 132 New York Artists
Through their collaborative fellowship initiative, the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) have awarded $903,000 in unrestricted grants to 132 artists throughout New York State. Each artist is granted $8,000, while an additional 16 finalists receive $1,000 and access to NYFA services. This year's selected disciplines encompass craft and sculpture, digital and electronic arts, nonfiction literature, poetry, and printmaking, drawing, and book arts. Chosen from a pool of 3,985 applicants, the artists' ages span from 25 to 90. Among the distinguished recipients are Melissa Joseph, Hakan Topal, Jeffrey Meris, and Sabri Sundos. The program observed a rise in cultural and environmental themes, particularly in the digital arts, where AI and technology are increasingly merging traditional boundaries. The next cycle will open in fall 2026, inviting proposals in fiction, folk and traditional arts, interdisciplinary work, painting, and video and film.
