Nature Photography Contest 2025 Winners Announced with Environmental Focus

The Nature Photography Contest has revealed the winners of its 2025 edition, highlighting both artistic excellence and environmental advocacy. Nearly 500 photographers participated in this year's competition, which emphasizes conservation awareness through visual storytelling. Thomas Vijayan from Oakville, Canada, received the Photography of the Year award for his image titled 'Please Spare Our Home,' depicting an orangutan in a devastated habitat. Angela J Sanchez from the United States was named Photographer of the Year for her overall portfolio, with her representative work 'Mobula Rocket' showing a mobula ray leaping from water. As part of her prize, Sanchez will collaborate with the nonprofit One Tree Planted to select a location for planting approximately 500 trees. Additional category winners include Remuna Beca for Underwater with 'Whale Dreams,' James Welch for Birds with 'Before the Storm,' Peter Hergesheimer for Night World with 'Creation,' Wiktoria West for Environmental Impact with 'First Gaze,' Muhammad Mostafigur Rahman for Sharing the Planet with 'The Honey Keepers of Sundarbans,' Panagiotis Xaxiris for Funny Nature with 'Into the Gape: Dalmatian Pelican at Dawn,' Janet Gustin for Wildlife with 'Following,' Pawel Zygmunt for Natural Landscape with 'The Earth's eye,' Indranil Basu Mallick for Macrophotography with 'Sporing Party,' and Miguel José Ávalos González for Plant Life with 'My Jeffrey Pine, Sierra de Baza.' The contest aims to combine aesthetic quality with urgent messages about planetary preservation, using photography to inspire action.
