Mona Hatoum Honored with 2026 Hamburger Bahnhof Lifetime Achievement Recognition

Mona Hatoum has been selected to receive the Hamburger Bahnhof Lifetime Achievement Award for 2026. This honor acknowledges artists whose work has profoundly influenced international contemporary art while maintaining substantial connections to Berlin and Germany. Frances Morris, former director of Tate Modern, conferred the award upon Hatoum. The artist has maintained a studio in Berlin for more than two decades, beginning with her participation in the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program from 2003 to 2004. Throughout her career, Hatoum has presented her work in numerous exhibitions both in Berlin and worldwide, establishing a significant presence in the global art scene. The award recognizes her enduring contributions to contemporary cultural discourse.
