Marni Meyers Wins 2025 Paula Riff Award for Alternative Process Photography

Marni Meyers has been named the 2025 recipient of the Paula Riff Award, an honor established in 2021 by Lenscratch and the Center for Photographic Art to celebrate artists who push photography beyond conventional boundaries. Juror Paula Tognarelli selected Meyers for her experimental cyanotype work, noting that her practice echoes the award's call for material transformation. Meyers, an interdisciplinary artist and graphic designer based in Denver, Colorado, uses alternative processes to create layered, painterly abstractions that emphasize tactility and imperfection. Her work has been exhibited at venues including The Photographer's Eye Collective + Gallery, LightBox Photographic Gallery, PhotoPlace, Center for Photographic Art, and the Griffin Museum of Photography. She is an active member of D'art Gallery in Denver's Santa Fe Art District. The Center for Photographic Art is currently presenting the exhibition 'Changing the Narrative: The First 5 Years of Paula Riff Award Winners,' featuring Meyers alongside Aimee Beaubien, Minwoo Lee, Paula McCartney, and Katie Shapiro, on view through July 26, 2026. The award honors the legacy of Paula Riff, a cameraless photography innovator who died in February 2021.
