Margherita Raso Wins 10th Club GAMeC Prize with Jacquard Textile Work

award · 2026-06-13

Margherita Raso's piece 'Untitled' (2023), crafted from jacquard fabric, has been awarded the tenth Club GAMeC Prize, which honors President Giuseppe Casarotto. This artwork, which combines elements of painting and sculpture, recalls the essence of silk and depicts human figures in energetic stances, representing themes of vulnerability and resilience. The jury, chaired by GAMeC Director Lorenzo Giusti and comprising Matteo Lucchetti, Ilenia Carnio Paneghini, Chiara Traversi, and Eleonora De Blasio, commended its exploration of binary language through jacquard techniques and its creative incorporation of movement recordings. Club GAMeC will acquire 'Untitled' for the Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo. Other contenders included Isabella Costabile's 'Playing Hours' (2024), Leonardo Devito's 'Addio' (2026), and Alice Visentin's 'Adoration' (2026). These works are currently displayed until September 6 at GAMeC in the exhibition 'Alfabeti del possibile,' curated by Giacomo Pigliapoco.
