Luminaria Opens Applications for 2026 Women Artist Micro-Grants in San Antonio

Luminaria, based in San Antonio, has launched its application process for the 2026 Working Artist Fund for Women. This initiative provides micro-grants of up to $550 to female artists residing in Bexar County, aimed at covering costs related to professional development such as travel, workshops, supplies, and website creation. According to Executive Director Yadhira Lozano, the program is designed to assist women artists in advancing their careers and undertaking significant projects that benefit the local arts scene. The fund originated in 2020 as a relief effort during the pandemic and has since distributed nearly $100,000 to approximately 200 artists. With backing from the Alice Kleberg Reynolds Foundation, it became exclusively focused on supporting women artists in 2025. Selected grantees will also receive mentorship from Shelly Lares, a Tejano musician and record label CEO. Applications, which require a biography, resume, work samples, a letter of interest, and a detailed budget, are due by April 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CDT, with a requested $5 donation to help cover administrative costs.
