Lilly Reich Beca's Fifth Edition Awards Five Kitchen-Focused Architecture Studies

In the fifth edition of the Beca Lilly Reich para la igualdad en la arquitectura, five research proposals were chosen, emphasizing themes such as gender, labor, territory, culture, and kitchens. The jury, consisting of Laida Memba, Josep Maria Montaner, and Igea Troiani, selected projects that showcase knowledge and relationships within the field of architecture. Among the winning entries are Sandra Álvarez Hernández's The Kitchen Paradox, Jimena de Gortari Ludlow's The Sound of the House, Lilly Reich's Kitchen Cabinet by Andrés Alfaro Hofmann and Remedios Samper Villalba, Paola Alejandra Rivera Arellano's The Ones Behind The Common Kitchens, and The Single-Person Apartment by Imma Forino, Michela Bassanelli, and Carola D'Ambros. Results will be shared at a symposium in March 2027 and displayed in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in 2028, as part of the Barcelona 2026 Capital Mundial de la Arquitectura initiative.
