Kristine Thompson and Makenzie Goodman Win 2026 Houston Center for Photography Fellowships

The Houston Center for Photography has announced that Kristine Thompson is the recipient of the 2026 HCP Fellowship, while Makenzie Goodman has been awarded the Carol Crow Fellowship. Both artists were chosen by juror Natasha Egan, the Executive Director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography. Thompson's project, Turning the Page, utilizes images from print newspapers to explore how visuals shape narratives. She earned her BS from Northwestern University and her MFA from UC Irvine, currently teaching at Louisiana State University. Goodman, who teaches photography at Appalachian State University, was recognized for her work What Returns, which tackles desertification through silkscreens created from collected dust. Each artist will receive $3,000 and a solo exhibition during HCP's winter season in 2026 at 1150 Bissonnet Street, Houston.
