John Lithgow and Lesley Manville Win Tony Awards
At the 2025 Tony Awards, John Lithgow (aged 80) became the oldest male actor to win a Tony, for his portrayal of Roald Dahl in Giant. His first Tony was in 1972 for Changing Rooms. Lesley Manville won her first Tony for playing Jocasta in Oedipus. Laurie Metcalf won Best Lead Actress for Death of a Salesman, which dominated with six awards including Best Revival of a Play. The production also marked the first Tony for producer Scott Rudin since his 2021 bullying allegations; he was absent, with Nathan Lane accepting. Other winners: Ragtime (two awards), Schmigadoon! (two), The Lost Boys (two), Cats: The Jellicle Ball (three), and Liberation (Best Play, also Pulitzer winner). The ceremony was hosted by Pink.
