John Davidson Requests Video Link for Scottish Baftas After Racial Slur Controversy
John Davidson, a Tourette's syndrome advocate, has requested to join the Scottish Baftas through a video link after a controversial incident during the Bafta Film Awards in February, where he inadvertently shouted a racial slur. His film, I Swear, which shares his experiences with Tourette's in 1980s Scotland, received seven nominations and won three awards in London. The outburst happened due to his tics, causing him to say the N-word while Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting. The BBC apologized for not cutting the slur from the broadcast. To ensure Davidson's safe participation, Bafta Scotland is working with experts. The winners will be announced on 15 November in Glasgow, hosted by Edith Bowman.
