Jacinto Higueras Sculpture Biennial 2026 Opens Call for International Artists

The Santisteban del Puerto town council in Jaén has issued the open call for the 2026 Jacinto Higueras Sculpture Biennial, held in memory of the sculptor born in the town. Any artist of any nationality may enter, with no restriction on theme, style or school; the only exclusion applies to whoever took first prize at the previous edition. Entries must be finished works in a permanent material and must be shipped to the Bienal de Escultura Jacinto Higueras at the Ayuntamiento de Santisteban del Puerto, Plaza Mayor, 15 – Esteban Solís, 5, 23250 Jaén, each accompanied by a sheet listing the title and the artist's name and contact details. The registration deadline is 22 November 2026. Prizes are single and indivisible: a medal plus 6,000 euros for first place, a medal plus 3,600 euros for second, and a medal for the public prize. The jury announces its final, non-appealable decision on 27 November, and a public award ceremony follows on 4 December, which the winning artists are obliged to attend. The first and second prize works become property of the Museo de Escultura Jacinto Higueras. Unselected pieces may be collected by their authors within two months of the ruling; after that they are treated as relinquished and pass to the museum. Full rules are posted at bienalesculturahigueras.blogspot.com.
