InVision Design Forward Fund Announces First Four Grant Recipients for Inclusive Design Initiatives

On January 22, 2019, InVision revealed the initial recipients of grants from its Design Forward Fund, established to promote inclusive design practices. The company, which serves over 5 million users and 65,000 organizations through its platform, launched this initiative to address growing demands for accessibility in digital design. InVision CEO Clark Valberg emphasized the importance of creating digital experiences that accommodate diverse user needs, stating that screens have become central to modern life and designers have a responsibility to ensure universal usability. The first four grant recipients include Mismatch.design, an online community and digital magazine founded by Kat Holmes, who also authored "Mismatch: How Inclusion Shapes Design" and serves as Google's Director of UX Design. We are Colorblind focuses on improving web accessibility for individuals with color vision deficiencies. Visionary, developed by Gabriela Fonseca and Greg Palmieri, is a specialized internet browser designed for people with visual impairments, inspired by Fonseca's mother who has Retinitis Pigmentosa. The A11Y Project operates as an open-source resource offering guidance on web accessibility through tips, testing methods, and event listings. InVision plans to introduce additional tools to help customers enhance inclusivity in their design projects through this ongoing program.
