Georgia Museum of Art Wins Five SEMC Awards, Gold for 'We, Too, Are Made of Wonders'
Five awards from the Southeastern Museums Conference went to the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia. The honors were handed out on September 30, 2026, during the SEMC Annual Meeting Awards Luncheon in Winston Salem, North Carolina. A gold award in the over $25,000 budget category of the Exhibition Competition went to "We, Too, Are Made of Wonders." Ciel Rodriquez, curatorial assistant in contemporary art, organized that exhibition, which drew on Ada Limón's poem "In Praise of Mystery" and presented historic, modern and contemporary works from the museum's collection centered on awe, wonder and the night sky. Exhibitions are recognized by the Exhibition Competition either for overall excellence or for pushing the boundaries of content and design through innovation. The museum is also set to appear in the Winter 2026 Edition of "Inside SEMC."
