Fang Xianhui Wins Nikon Photo Contest Special Encouragement Award

Chinese photographer Fang Xianhui won the Special Encouragement Award in the single photo category at the Nikon Photo Contest in Tokyo in October 2025. Her work "Mom's scent," a scene of steaming bread in a rural Shanxi village, was praised by judges as a "sample of emotions that strikes straight to the heart." Fang, born in the 1990s, has previously earned a TFSF gold medal at the International Photography Competition of the Izmir Business Women's Association in Turkey, an APU bronze medal at the Taichung International Photography Exhibition, and an Excellence Award at the Mobile Photography Competition in Turkey. Her photograph "Hand-Rolled Noodles" won second prize in the Food and Love category of the Xiaomi Mobile Storytelling Photography Competition in 2021. Fang emphasizes capturing "warmth" and "relationships" rather than mere scenes, using natural light and spontaneous compositions. She plans to continue documenting mountain village life in Shanxi over the next two years.
