Eric Wesley Wins Artisti per Frescobaldi, Anicka Yi Takes Hugo Boss Prize

On the same date, two significant art awards were revealed. Eric Wesley, born in Los Angeles in 1973, received the 2016 Artisti per Frescobaldi accolade at GAM – Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan for his piece "Not Yet Titled" (2016), which incorporates a micro-camera within a wine bottle. The jury comprised Massimiliano Gioni, Samuel Keller, and Gianfranco Maraniello. This biennial award highlights emerging talent, with previous recipients hailing from Italy (2012), Germany (2014), and the U.S. (2016). Other contenders included Matthew Brannon and Patrizio Di Massimo. Additionally, the Hugo Boss Prize celebrated its 11th edition by awarding Anicka Yi (1971) with $100,000, outpacing nominees such as Tania Bruguera and Mark Leckey.
