DVF Awards in Venice Honor Gloria Steinem's Legacy and Celebrate Five Women Changemakers

On Thursday, the 17th DVF Awards took place at Teatro Goldoni in Venice, Italy, under the auspices of Diane von Furstenberg and the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation. The ceremony paid tribute to Gloria Steinem, who passed away that same day at the age of 92; she had been a recipient of the DVF Award in 2014. Since their inception in 2010, the awards have honored five individuals with $100,000 each: actress Jane Fonda, French survivor Gisèle Pelicot, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, photojournalist Lynsey Addario, and Kenyan educator Wawira Njiru. Fonda quoted Steinem, stressing the importance of hope and action, while Addario addressed the credibility crisis in journalism due to AI. Among the notable guests were Karlie Kloss, Tina Brown, Barry Diller, and Anita Hill, with Alfonso Catalano capturing the moments in photographs.
