Diputación de Málaga Opens XVI Evaristo Guerra Painting Prize

The Diputación de Málaga has launched the sixteenth edition of the Evaristo Guerra Painting Prize, a competition named after the renowned painter from Vélez-Málaga. Organized in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Vélez-Málaga, the call is open to individuals of legal age of any nationality who have not won first prize in previous editions. Participants must submit a single, original, unsigned work measuring 81cm x 65cm (standard frame No. 25 Figure) in either vertical or horizontal orientation. The theme and technique are free, but works must not have been previously presented to this or any other competition. Entries must be framed with a fillet no wider than 3cm and without glass or other protective materials. The registration process involves two phases: first, submitting the application form (ANNEX I) and a photograph of the work (ANNEX II) via electronic registry, postal service, diplomatic missions, or in person at designated offices; second, delivering the work personally or by courier to the Concejalía de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico in Vélez-Málaga. The deadline for applications runs from May 7 to July 15, 2026. Prizes include €3,000 for first place, €1,000 for first accésit, and €500 for second accésit. Winners will be required to sign their works at the award ceremony.
