David di Donatello Winner 'Cosas que nunca olvidaré' Tells Story of Alzheimer's Care

The film 'Cosas que nunca olvidaré' (Things I Will Never Forget), winner of the David Giovanni Prize at the 71st David di Donatello Awards, is based on Serenella Antoniazzi's book about the true story of Mattia Piccoli, a twelve-year-old Venetian boy who supported his father Paolo, afflicted with early-onset Alzheimer's. At just forty, Paolo realizes he is losing his memory and decides to face it realistically, staying close to his son Mattia and wife Michela, while attempting to rebuild his relationship with his estranged brother. Directed by Alessandro Aronadio (born Rome, 1975), the film stars Edoardo Leo (nominated for David di Donatello as director), Teresa Saponangelo (David di Donatello winner for 'The Hand of God'), and debut actor Javier Francesco Leoni. Aronadio, known for humanistic films like 'Ya era hora' and 'Orejas', felt compelled to make the film after learning the story in 2021, aiming to de-dramatize and show that humor and smiles are possible even in tragedy. The 115-minute Italian drama-comedy, released in 2025, features cinematography by Andrea Reitano and music by Santi Pulvirenti, produced by BTeam and Bosco Films.
