Daniel Libeskind Wins 2026 Praemium Imperiale for Architecture

Daniel Libeskind, a Polish-American architect and co-founder of Studio Libeskind, has been awarded the 2026 Praemium Imperiale in architecture. This prestigious accolade, given annually by the Japan Art Association since 1988, honors remarkable contributions to the arts. The announcement took place on September 8, 2026, across several cities. Renowned for his culturally significant designs, Libeskind's notable works include the Jewish Museum Berlin and the World Trade Center Master Plan. Each recipient is awarded 15 million yen, with the medals to be presented in Tokyo on October 28, 2026. Other honorees this year include Cate Blanchett, Jenny Holzer, Andy Goldsworthy, and Herbert Blomstedt.
