Catherine Johnson of Design, Bitches Joins AN's Best of Products Awards Jury

Catherine Johnson, cofounder and CEO of Design, Bitches (D,B), has been named a juror for the 12th annual Best of Products Awards by AN Interior. The firm, which has completed over 200 buildings and been featured on AN Interior's Top 50 list for seven years, won AN's Best of Practice Award in 2024. Johnson, who leads the firm with RA Rudolph, emphasizes human experience, joy, and accessible design. She is currently excited about designing creative homes, citing a recent ground-up house and ADU in Mar Vista, Los Angeles, that integrates mature trees into the architecture. Johnson favors cork for its tactility and warmth, and champions glazed tile as an unsung hero, referencing the Second Street Tunnel in Downtown Los Angeles. For submissions, she seeks products that use familiar materials in unrecognizable ways, are both beautiful and utilitarian, biodegradable, and solve real problems. The deadline is July 24, 2026.
