Bulgaria's Dara Wins Eurovision After Twice Considering Quitting

Bulgarian singer Dara, known for her hit 'Bangaranga,' won the Eurovision Song Contest in May by a record-breaking points margin, securing Bulgaria's first-ever victory. The 27-year-old revealed she considered quitting the competition twice before winning. Initially, she declined due to contract disagreements, and later, after being announced as Bulgaria's first Eurovision entry since 2022, she feared her newly diagnosed ADHD would be exacerbated by the event's demands. Dara worked with a therapist, using breathing exercises, drawing, journaling, and meditation to manage her mental health. Despite her initial anxiety, she felt calm and secure on stage. Following her win, Bulgaria's national broadcaster BNT confirmed Sofia as the host city for the 2027 Eurovision. Dara was greeted by large crowds upon returning to Sofia. She stated that future success for her includes having children and being healthy, prioritizing personal well-being over career achievements.
