Bradford City of Culture legacy grants fund eight projects

Bradford Culture Company (BCC) has announced eight projects receiving up to £20,000 each as part of the Artist Awards programme, continuing the legacy of Bradford City of Culture 2025. The funded projects will take place across the city until 31 March 2027. Recipients include Amy and Emma-Jo Bairstow for Vespertine Garden, an immersive UV-lit installation at South Square Centre in Thornton; Joachim Keke for The Memory House, an Afro-diasporic dance-theatre piece; Munaza Kulsoom for zines with South Asian residents about gardening in Frizinghall; Kamal Kaan for To Leave This Soil Altered, a contemporary dance, music, and poetry show; Kirsty Taylor for Birth Mum, a theatre show created with women's services professionals; Kauser Mukhtar for a puppet show based on a satirical poem by Rabindranath Tagore; Ella Tighe for Fierce Little Things, a dance-theatre show; and Anji Timlin for two exhibitions in Keighley and Ilkley. BCC Director of Programme Jenny Harris noted the 'fantastic' breadth of applications and said the selected artists capture Bradford's spirit of storytelling, passion for nature, and community. Bradford City of Culture 2025 attracted three million people.
