Australian Museum Wins National Awards for First Nations Exhibition at AMaGA Conference

The Australian Museum (AM) received multiple awards, including the major overall award, for its exhibition 'Unsettled' at the Australian Museum and Galleries Association (AMaGA) national conference in Perth, Western Australia. The conference, held at the Perth Convention Centre, marked the first in-person gathering for the sector in several years. Curators Laura McBride and Dr. Mariko Smith, both First Nations women, were recognized for their work on the exhibition, which presents Indigenous experiences since European settlement. The AM also sponsored the event, where discussions focused on climate change initiatives and effective engagement with First Nations communities. Additionally, the museum has opened a new educational space called 'Burra' that combines Indigenous knowledge with Western science.
