Atelier Julien Boidot Wins AR Emerging Awards 2026 as Rodríguez + De Mitri and A-A Collective Also Take Honors

award · 2026-10-21

Atelier Julien Boidot, a French practice, has been named winner of the AR Emerging Awards 2026, organized by The Architectural Review, taking a £5,000 prize. The firm was chosen from a shortlist of ten finalist studios and was recognized for its multidisciplinary practice model and its work in educational typologies, at a moment of mounting concern over school quality in France. Jurors praised the expressive confidence of its architecture and its integration of profiles including engineers, cost specialists and interior designers. Mexican studio Rodríguez + De Mitri received a special jury mention for its approach to economy of means and its question of how much construction is actually necessary. A-A Collective took the Peter Davey Prize, awarded by the magazine's editorial team; the itinerant practice, operating across Switzerland, Denmark and Italy, was distinguished for its experimental working model and for the renewal of Plac Defilad, the central square of Warsaw, its first built project. The editorial jury cited its contribution to creating and defending public space at a time when it is increasingly under threat. The awards were announced on 15 October at the Architectural Association in London. Created in 1999, the AR Emerging Awards recognize young architecture practices and, since 2018, assess a trajectory of projects rather than a single work.
