Arthouse Glasgow Launches Annual Award with Glasgow School of Art, Kate Glenn First Recipient

Arthouse Glasgow, a 76-bedroom hotel opening on 24th June 2026 at 129 Bath Street, has launched the Arthouse Award in partnership with the Glasgow School of Art (GSA). The annual prize supports MFA students with a bursary and a public commission. Inaugural recipient Kate Glenn unveiled two works on 5th June during Glasgow International. Her exterior installation 'RADICAL / REBIRTH' covers the façade with hand-painted fabric banners referencing historic plaques, including one for former Prime Minister Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman. A permanent interior piece 'PEACE / PLACE' uses a flickering letter to shift between words. Glenn also created a separate work for disability charity ENABLE Scotland, founded at the same address in 1954, and will donate her remaining production budget. The award was conceived by Oberland, the hospitality group behind Arthouse Glasgow, and GSA. Judges included Lukas Zueger-Knecht (Oberland) and Margaret Salmon (GSA). The exterior work is on view until 21st June; the interior piece launches with the hotel on 24th June. The hotel features interiors by A-nrd and a restaurant by Dean and Anna Parker.
