Art Brussels 2025 Announces Prize Winners: Julien Creuzet, Thomas Verstraeten, Eva Partum, and Night Café Recognized

Art Brussels 2025 has announced its prize winners across multiple categories. Julien Creuzet, represented by Mendes Wood DM, won the SOLO PRIZE supported by TheMerode. His installation merges Caribbean history with European modernity, combining the Greek myth of Andromeda with Martinique's red devil figure, featuring ceramic shell-like sculptures on sea-themed wallpaper with historical artifacts and 21st-century marine remnants. Thomas Verstraeten, represented by FRED&FERRY, received the DISCOVERY ACQUISITION PRIZE supported by Moleskine for his video work URBI ET ORBI (2024) and accompanying scale model, which restages an Antwerp street scene in a theater with a commissioned score and live performance. The '68 FORWARD prize went to Ewa Opalka Gallery from Warsaw for its presentation of Polish feminist artist Eva Partum, highlighting her hybrid practices and use of humor as resistance. The INVITED PRIZE, supported by NATAN, was awarded to Night Café from London for a thoughtfully curated group presentation that challenges rapid image consumption with small-format works. The jury praised Creuzet's work for confronting life and death allegories and reflecting on ecological mistakes, Verstraeten's ambition in blending visual and performing arts while engaging social realities, Partum's critical engagement with institutional structures, and Night Café's intimate display that fosters attentive viewing. All winners were selected by a jury that evaluated entries based on artistic merit, innovation, and relevance to contemporary discourse.
