Armory Show Adds Museum Acquisition Prizes with PAMM and Bronx Museum
From September 24-27, the Armory Show, New York's leading art fair, will unveil two new prizes aimed at museum acquisitions, a first in its three-decade history, at the Javits Center. The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will award $20,000 to acquire a piece from the fair's Caribbean-themed Focus section. Meanwhile, the Bronx Museum will receive a $15,000 prize to select a work from the Presents section. Fair director Kyla McMillan emphasized the importance of supporting emerging artists, particularly from the Americas. Approximately 230 galleries will participate, and existing awards include the Delfina Foundation Artist Residency Prize and the Pommery Prize. Additionally, the Bronx Museum is in the midst of a $43 million renovation, slated for completion in autumn 2027.
