Anne Carson Wins 2026 Nobel Prize for Literature, Linking Her Work to Alkisti Efthymiou's Critique of documenta 14
On October 18, 2026, Anne Carson was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. A recent social media post by Minus Plato connected Carson’s writing to Alkisti Efthymiou’s analysis of the 2017 exhibition documenta 14, referencing Sophocles' "Electra" and Carson’s essay "The Gender of Sound." Carson remarked on women's concerns about their public speaking tones, citing Margaret Thatcher's training. Efthymiou's publication, "Mutings, Mutations," published in 2021, critiques the lack of female voices in Greek cultural settings during documenta 14. This work features audio contributions from Kerri Ho, Singgeek, and Sarah Schulman, alongside discussions of Carson's previous works.
