Ann and Jürgen Wilde Receive 2025 DGPh Culture Prize for Lifelong Photography Advocacy

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh) will honor Ann and Jürgen Wilde with the 2025 Culture Prize for their remarkable contributions to the field of photography. The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 27, 2025, at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne. Their adventure started in 1968 when they acquired the estate of art historian Franz Roh, which led to the formation of a modernist photography collection. In 1972, they established a groundbreaking photography gallery in Cologne that showcased avant-garde pieces and supported emerging photographers. They played a key role in rediscovering marginalized avant-garde artists and were involved in documenta 6 in 1977. After closing their gallery in 1985, they created the Stiftung Ann und Jürgen Wilde in 2001 to safeguard important artist archives. Their works are currently on display in 'ON VIEW.
