Anika Sultana Wins 2026 Glasstire North Texas Art Writing Prize

Anika Sultana has received the 2026 Glasstire North Texas Art Writing Prize for her essay 'Hungry Mouths, Open Eyes: Lines That Shape Cultural Memory.' The $2,500 award recognizes emerging arts writers in North Texas and includes publication on Glasstire and a celebration in Dallas on April 8. Sultana, a Master's student at The Edith O'Donnell Institute of Art History at UTD, focuses her research on modern South Asian art, particularly the work of Bengali artist Zainul Abedin, who documented the 1943 Bengal Famine. The prize judges included Lucia Simek, Maria Elena Ortiz, and Glasstire staff. This marks the ninth year of the award, which is supported by the Heimbinder Family Foundation and Barry Whistler Gallery.
