Alexandra Catiere Wins 2026 Niépce Prize
The 2026 Niépce Prize – Gens d'images has been awarded to photographer Alexandra Catiere. Born in Minsk in 1978, Catiere studied at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York and refined her technique in Irving Penn's studio. Based in Paris since 2008, she is known for her nuanced visual language in portraits, still lifes, and reportage. The prize, established in 1955, honors established photographers under 50. It includes €15,000 funded by Picto Foundation, ADAGP, and the French Ministry of Culture. In 2027, Catiere will have an exhibition at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Jeu de Paume at the Château de Tours. This summer, the venue is showing "Secrets et mensonges" by Ed Alcock (b. 1974), the 2025 Niépce laureate.
