7th VH AWARD Open Call for Media Artists Engaging with Asia

award · 2026-05-29

Hyundai Motor Group has launched the 7th VH AWARD, aimed at emerging media artists whose creations reflect Asian themes. Established in 2016, this award has been instrumental in supporting artists tackling pressing contemporary matters through audiovisual innovation. Artists or collectives of Asian heritage, whether residing in Asia or part of the Asian diaspora, are invited to submit proposals for a new single-channel video piece. Five selected finalists will benefit from an enhanced production grant and will engage in an online residency with Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, which includes masterclasses and workshops. Additionally, a new "Honorary Mention" category will highlight other talented artists with access to select residency features. In June 2027, one Grand Prix winner will receive an extra $30,000. The deadline for applications is July 21, 2026, with an international jury evaluating submissions. The commissioned works will be showcased at Hyundai Motor Group's Vision Hall in Korea, HEK (House of Electronic Arts) in Switzerland, the Ars Electronica Festival in Austria, and during Singapore Art Week 2028.
