2026 Wood Architecture Prize Winners Announced, Highlighting Timber's Social and Educational Potential

The fourth edition of the national wood architecture prize, organized by Fiera Bolzano with academic support from Politecnico di Torino and Iuav di Venezia, has announced its 2026 winners. The competition emphasized wood as a material for social and territorial regeneration, addressing contemporary living and educational needs. A jury chaired by Manuel Benedikter selected three main prize recipients: Studio act_romegialli for 'The Big Zip – A house for happy cows' in Sondrio province (2022); Mimeus Architettura with Studio Campomarzio for the 'Nuove Scuole Medie di Primiero' in Trentino (2024); and Roland Baldi Architects for a multifunctional building in Barbiano, Bolzano (2025). Special mentions were awarded to several other projects, including an under-35 category winner by Michele Sicher for 'Maso Stregozzi' in Trentino. The awards demonstrate the sector's maturity through diverse typologies ranging from public to domestic scales.
