2026 Governor General's Medals in Architecture Honor 12 Canadian Projects
The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, alongside the Canada Council for the Arts, has revealed the recipients of the 2026 Governor General's Medals in Architecture, recognizing 12 distinguished projects. Among the highlighted works are 900 Saint-Jacques in Montreal, designed by Chevalier Morales Architectes and Brian Eldsen Burrows Architecte, Ulster House in Toronto from LGA Architectural Partners, Veil House in Winnipeg by 5468796 Architecture, and Arbour House in Victoria by Patkau Architects. Additionally, Hilltop Cottage in New Brunswick, created by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects, received an AZ Award in May. Ace Hotel Toronto, designed by Shim-Sutcliffe Architects and Atelier Ace, is acknowledged for its civic importance. Other civic initiatives include Muscowpetung Powwow Arbour, Kìwekì Point, O-day'min Park Pavilion, and Windermere Fire Station #31, which is a net-zero-energy facility. Pat Hanson of gh3* was awarded the RAIC Gold Medal in May.
