2026 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Shortlist Announced

The Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition is celebrating its 23rd edition, revealing a shortlist of 100 remarkable images from an impressive 2,129 submissions. This year's entrants include 501 photographers hailing from 17 countries. Organized by the South Australian Museum, the contest features ten diverse categories, such as Animals in Nature and Macro. Notable entries include works by John Harrison, Lewis Burnett, and Emma Perry. The top prize will be awarded on August 27, 2026, while the People's Choice winner will be announced in January 2027. All selected images will be displayed at the museum.
