Zeroscena Debuts Participatory Cartography Project at MUSMA for XXII Giornata del Contemporaneo
On 10 October 2026 at 18:00, MUSMA in Palazzo Pomarici, Matera, will unveil "I pezzi grossi," a project by Zeroscena as part of the XXII Giornata del Contemporaneo, which focuses on "Geografie della contemporaneità." The collective commenced its residency in August 2026 after securing the "Giovan Battista Calapai e Theodora van Mierlo Benedetti" award. Zeroscena gathered visual memories and oral testimonies from the residents of Matera. During the event on 10 October, local students will superimpose their interpretations of "home" onto historical maps, resulting in a "mappa della memoria." This artwork will be added to MUSMA's permanent collection by the end of the year, thanks to a donation from the Calapai family and support from A-Head Project. Collaborators include Fondazione Zétema and Cooperativa Synchronos.
