Trone Paris: Ceramic Sanitary Ware as Sculptural Design

French brand Trone challenges bathroom conformity with four ceramic toilet models: Callipyge, Orgueil, Icone, and Altesse. Callipyge draws on the Venus Callipyge, its asymmetric curves layered in three levels of ceramic to play with light and shadow like a contemporary Greek bas-relief. Orgueil counters with geometry: square forms softened into supple curves, and its duroplast toilet seat is deformed by thirty millimeters to maintain visual continuity—a technical feat few will notice but which makes all the difference. Icone shifts focus to water itself: a transparent tank reveals the HydraWise™ mechanism, which regulates flush from 50 cl to 6 liters and cuts consumption by up to 30%; the toilet seat is deliberately absent to expose the water column. Altesse brings the bathing ritual into Japanese territory with adjustable rear and front washing on five levels, warm-air drying, two memorizable user profiles, and a night light—a domestic omotenashi that also reduces toilet paper use. Throughout, ceramic is treated as living matter, never a mere container, extending to sinks and accessories. Trone reminds us that even the last room of the house can bear an author's signature.
